LOS ANGELES PORT POLICE ASSOCIATION
ANNOUNCES SUPPORT FOR ALEX PADILLA FOR SENATE
LOS
ANGELES – The
Los Angeles Port Police Association today announced its
endorsement of Los Angeles City Council
President Alex Padilla in his campaign for the 20th State
Senate District.
“The Los Angeles Port Police Association appreciates
the partnership we’ve had with Council President
Alex Padilla to make our city safer and more secure, especially
in the post-September 11 environment,” said Sergeant
Daniel Aleman, President of the Los Angeles Port Police
Association. “We’re proud to support Councilman
Padilla’s candidacy for the State Senate and look
forward to working with him at the state level to keep
our port and the surrounding communities safe.”
“Our Port Police provide outstanding protection
and service to the people who live near and work at our
port," said Councilmember Padilla. “The men
and women of the Los Angeles Port Police Association are
among the nation’s finest law enforcement officers.
I’m proud to have their support.”
The
Los Angeles Port Police Association represents men and
women who
are part of one of our few police forces
dedicated exclusively to maintaining safety and security
at a port. In addition to enforcing federal, state, and
local public safety statutes, port police also enforce
environmental and maritime safety regulations. The Port
of Los Angeles is the nation’s busiest containerport.
Councilmember Padilla is running for the State Senate
seat being vacated by State Senator Richard Alarcon. The
primary election will be held in June 2006.
