U.S. CONGRESSMAN HOWARD BERMAN
ANNOUNCES SUPPORT OF ALEX PADILLA
FOR SENATE
Berman is Valley’s longest-serving elected official
LOS
ANGELES – U.S.
Congressman Howard Berman today announced his support
of Los Angeles City Councilmember Alex Padilla’s
campaign for the 20th State Senate District.
“I’m proud to endorse a candidate who has
been a great partner on important projects for the Valley.
From the new park areas and library at Hansen Dam to the
improvements we’re making to reduce traffic congestion,
I know that Alex Padilla can be counted on to get the job
done,” said Congressman Berman, whose Congressional
district includes much of the 20th State Senate District. “Valley
residents will be well-served by Alex Padilla in the
California State Senate.”
“Congressman Berman is the Valley’s longest-serving
elected official and I’m honored to have the endorsement
of such a respected and distinguished leader," said
Councilmember Padilla.
Congressman
Berman has represented the San Fernando Valley for
more than three decades, starting with his
service
in the California State Assembly in 1973. He was elected
to Congress in 1982, where he has recently worked to
secure hundreds of millions in transportation funding
for the
Los Angeles region and to help Los Angeles’s
entertainment industry through efforts to reduce piracy
and runaway
production. He consistently receives more than 70 percent
of the vote
in his district.
Councilmember
Padilla is running for the State Senate seat being
vacated by State Senator Richard Alarcón.
The primary election will be held in June 2006.
