ALEX PADILLA FOR SENATE
LOS
ANGELES – The United Food and Commercial Workers
(UFCW) Local 770 today announced its endorsement of Los
Angeles City Councilmember Alex Padilla in his campaign
for the 20th State Senate District.
“From the Council Floor to the picket lines, Alex
Padilla has stood up for working families,” said
UFCW Local 770 President Rick Icaza. “He’s
fought with us to protect wages and benefits for working
men and women, and to make sure that people who live in
Los Angeles neighborhoods have a meaningful role in deciding
the kinds of stores they want in their community. Alex
has been a great advocate on the City Council for working
families, and we know he’ll be a strong voice for
us in the State Senate.” “I’m honored to have the support of Los Angeles’s
grocery workers, who have been leaders in the fight for
fair wages and health care and other benefits for all," said
Councilmember Padilla. “We’ve stood together
in tough times and we’ve made some real progress.
I look forward to continuing our work together.” UFCW Local 770 represents 29,000 men and women who work
