ENDORSE ALEX PADILLA FOR
SENATE
LOS
ANGELES – The Los Angeles County Young Democrats
(LACYD) voted to
endorse Los Angeles City Councilmember Alex Padilla
in his campaign for the
20th State Senate District at a general membership
meeting last night.
Alex
Padilla has been a member and a friend to the Young
Democrats for many
years. We are confident that he will be an effective
advocate for the
issues we care about, such as improving our schools,
protecting our
environment, and protecting a woman¹s right to
choose, said Los Angeles
County Young Democrats President Kristen Montet Lonner.
Young
Democrats represent the future of our party. LACYD
is one of Los
Angeles¹s largest and most active Democratic clubs,
and I¹m proud to have
their support," said Councilmember Padilla.
With
more than 900 members, the Los Angeles County Young
Democrats works to
encourage young people to take an active interest
in government affairs,
increase the efficiency of government, maintain
the viability of our free
institutions, and contribute to the growth and
influence of the ideals and
philosophy of the Democratic Party.
Councilmember
Padilla is running for the State Senate seat being
vacated by
State Senator Richard Alarcon. The primary election
will be held in June
2006.
