PADILLA ANNOUNCES MORE THAN
$1.2 MILLION RAISED FOR
STATE SENATE RACE

ANGELES – With
just three weeks left until the June 6 primary, Los Angeles
City Councilmember Alex Padilla
today announced that he has raised more than $1.2 million
Meeting this mark ensures that Padilla has the resources
needed to communicate with voters about his record of leadership
for the district and his plans to make the San Fernando
Valley stronger and safer by improving education, health
care, housing, and more for Valley families.
Padilla and his opponent, Cindy Montanez, will officially
file campaign finance reports next week for the period
that closes this Friday, May 20. As of March 17, the closing
date of the most recent campaign finance report filings,
Alex’s opponent had raised just $614,000 compared
with Alex’s $908,000.
“I am grateful for the strong support I’ve received to help me communicate
my positive message for the Valley,” said Padilla.
Councilmember Padilla is running for the State Senate seat being vacated by
State Senator Richard Alarcon. Padilla is endorsed by U.S. Senators Dianne
Feinstein and Barbara Boxer, Congressman Howard Berman, LAPD Chief Bill Bratton,
LAFD Chief William Bamattre, United Teachers Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Police
Protective League, the California Fire Chiefs Association, and a supermajority
of the Los Angeles City Council. The primary election will be held in June
2006.
