WOMEN MEMBERS OF CONGRESS
ENDORSE ALEX PADILLA FOR SENATE
LOS
ANGELES – A majority of the women
representing Los Angeles in the Congress today announced
their support for Los Angeles City Council President Alex
Padilla in his race for the 20th State Senate district.
Of the eight women who represent portions of Los Angeles
County in the Congress, five are supporting Padilla. Announcing
their support today are Congresswoman Jane Harman, Congresswoman
Juanita Millender-McDonald, Congresswoman Grace Napolitano,
Congresswoman Maxine Waters and Congresswoman Diane Watson.
Today's five endorsements give Padilla the support of
a majority of the women members of Congress who represent
Los Angeles.
“I am incredibly proud and honored to have the support
of these outstanding Congressional leaders,” said
Council President Padilla. “These five Congresswomen
are among our most respected leaders. They are working
in Washington every day to help meet the urgent needs
of the people of Los Angeles.”
In the past two weeks, Padilla has picked up endorsements
from U.S. Senators Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein and
Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria Molina.
Council President Padilla is running for the State Senate
seat being vacated by State Senator Richard Alarcon. The
primary election will be held in June 2006.
