ANGELES – United States Senator Dianne
Feinstein today announced her endorsement of Los Angeles
City Council President Alex Padilla in his race for the
20th State Senate District.
“I’m proud to support Alex Padilla for Senate.
Alex is a proven leader with a record of getting things
done for the San Fernando Valley,” noted Senator
Feinstein.
Councilmember Padilla
commented, “I am honored to
have the endorsement of Senator Dianne Feinstein in my
race for State Senate. She has been a tremendous champion
for California and a mentor to me personally. As a former
member of Senator Feinstein’s staff and as a City
Councilmember, I am proud to have worked with her to bring
much needed transportation, housing, economic development,
and police resources to the San Fernando Valley.”
Alex Padilla is running for the State Senate seat being
vacated by State Senator Richard Alarcon. The primary election
will be held in June 2006.
Senator Feinstein was first elected to the U.S. Senate
in 1992. She was reelected in 1994 and 2000. In 2000, she
received 72% of the vote in the City of Los Angeles and
70% of the vote in the 20th State Senate District.
